When the art on this blog catches your eye, here’s that chance to take the next step – use our Artist Masterlist to foster a further relationship to that artist’s work. See more of what they’ve done on their tumblr page. Order a commission on their website. Find out about their new creator-owned project on their twitter feed. Learn about the breadth of their career on their wikipedia page. It’s a list full of inspiring possibilities.

One portion of our Artist Masterlist will be posted each month – at this point, about one-third of the total artists tagged from Capcoverart’s inception July 4, 2017 through May 21st, 2018. I hope to keep the list as updated as I can.

This is not an endorsement of any content you find. Please let me know if you have any other updated sites of contact for any of these artists. Enjoy!

Featured artist lists are updated through May of 2018.

Welcome all! :-D

capcoverart:

This is Cap Cover Art, run by @blessedharlot, where I post covers of Captain America and Cap-adjacent comics. This includes solo Cap titles, group titles where Cap features prominently, and occasional solo titles of characters that spun off from Steve Rogers’ corner of the world. I exclude anything with Nick Spencer as a creator.

Here’s a rundown of how things work.

I generally post 1-2 new covers a day, and I reblog them at least once.

My central sources for scans are in English. I’m keeping an eye out for non-English sources, but good scans in any language are hard to find. Non-English cover submissions are warmly welcomed.

The blog usually has monthly themes, to highlight various characters, aesthetics or historical threads that I think you might enjoy.  Most of the time, captions are short, so that we can focus on the art itself. Occasionally the theme call for a longer description.

Submissions are welcome – that includes covers, theme suggestions, questions, and requests. I’ll do my best to incorporate them.

Fans of any ship, fans with explicit blogs, empty main blogs, etc are all welcome.

The rules are:

  1. Please be kind. We all make mistakes, we all have more to learn. We’re here to celebrate art and comics, not tear anyone down.
  2. Don’t erase captions; it’s rude to everyone involved. If you can’t at least keep the source info listed on a reblog, that’s a block.
  3. Captain America is not a Nazi. Cap is about solidarity with the disenfranchised, not propping up the privileged. If I find hate including but not limited to islamophobia, anti-semitism, antiblackness, racism, transphobia, homophobia, misogyny, etc, in your comments here OR on the blog you follow me from, you’ll be booted.

Every post of mine is tagged for title and artist(s). Art posts are tagged #comics covers, and non-art posts are tagged #text post. Reblogs from other sources are tagged simply with their comics title and “#reblog”. The most common content warning tags are #blood tw and #swastika tw, though there are others I use.  Let me know if you need anything in particular tagged and I will do my best to do it properly.

Thank you all so much for being a part of this. Please enjoy yourself!

Finding questionable choices in much older covers is low-hanging fruit that I generally avoid. But I absolutely could not resist showing you the villain throttling Bucky with one hand and painting a portrait of the moment with the other.

Thanks for participating in You Tried Month. Stick around for more Cap covers soon!

DON’T PANIC (in big friendly letters)

We’ll be taking a hiatus at CapCoverArt for the month of March. You could call the monthly theme “silence”!

After juggling daily content here for nearly two years straight, I’ve finally lost all grip on my queue! It was bound to happen. So I’m going to take a minute to catch up. I have a few themes that require a bit more work to pull off that I’m currently working on, and those take more lead time than I’ve been able to manage for March.

Captain America himself also has a critically important month coming up right after this hiatus – the month of April, when Avengers: Endgame and all its consequences hit the MCU worldwide… whatever those consequences may be. So, before that, I’m going to take a month to strengthen myself spirituallyprepare for my inevitable destructionget a lot of therapy… catch up on the background work required for the blog. I look forward to having more great content for you in time for Endgame.

Don’t miss Captain Marvel March 8! And don’t go anywhere!!! More Cap covers soon! There will also be another giveaway when we return!!!
