Rikki Barnes from Onslaught Reborn (Bucky/Nomad)

On two different occasions, to avert apocalyptic catastrophes, Reed Richards made two pocket universes. From those realities sprung two young women named Rebecca “Rikki” Barnes. This second Rikki struggled to find a place in this world, until she got some support from the mysterious new Captain America (Bucky Barnes) and the Black Widow, Natasha Romanoff. With their blessing she used the name Nomad.

Nomad November Day 31, Nomad #5: Ian Rogers

Ellie and Ian broke into Hydra headquarters and were overwhelmed by the Hydra Avengers (The Iron Baron, Lord Drain, Chancellor Cassandra, Iron Nail, Captain Hydra, Doctor Mindbubble, and Venom). Zola used Steve’s body to fight as well, and activated a symbiote he’d given Ellie – all in a failed attempt to get the substance from Ian’s armor that helped him regenerate. With the resistance defeated and no help on the way, Ian and a badly injured Ellie made it to the Infinite Elevator and escaped the Hydra-overrun dimension to parts unknown.

Despite an evil biological father, a brutal childhood, and repeated displacements in space and reality, Ian Rogers embraced his adopted father’s teachings on embodying hope and compassionately fighting for those in harm’s way.

This concludes Nomad November. I hope you found some inspiration. Stay tuned for more Cap covers!

Nomad November Day 30, Nomad #5: Ian Rogers

A devastated Ellie nearly gave up, until Ian encouraged her to keep going, reminding her that her parents’ dream lived on in her. Of his own motivations, he said:

When Steve Rogers arrived in my homeland of Dimension Z, it wasn’t his world, but he didn’t fight any less passionately to protect the people in it. And if he hadn’t fought, if he hadn’t given my world’s salvation his all – I would have ended up just like that son of a bitch Captain Hydra. Steve saved me from that fate, and now it’s my turn to pay that forward.

Ian fought off Leopold Zola, and he and Ellie made plans to take down Hydra. One more bonus Nomad cover to come tomorrow!

Ian found the underground resistance, which included this dimension’s Tony, Hank, and Janet, along with Sharon and Steve and their daughter, Ellie. The group was attacked, and most were killed, including Steve and Sharon. Ellie and Ian escaped together.
